After reviewing this for a while, we have come to the following conclusions.
There was an issue in Event 1 of the OLFSL Whatever the Weather league which was run on the 17th of May 2009. The issue in question was that some racers did not pit during the race even though the race had been designated as requiring a mandatory pitstop. This fact was not clearly marked on the website although most of the racers found it an obeyed it. Admittedly, some racers pitted out of habit instead of because of the rule. The final outcome of this was that the OLFSL staff decided that the notice that the race required a pitstop was not made clear enough to the league members and, as a result, the site was updated to include a clear indication of the pitstop requirements. The racers who had not stopped for a pitstop were given a points penalty which was enough to bring their points for the race to the same level as the racer directly behind them. This was done as a compromise as the fault could not be directed solely at either the racer of the OLFSL rules and procedures.
The issue raised in Event 11 of the OLFSL Whatever the Weather league which was run on the 6th of December 2009, whilst being different in content, is very similar in concept. The grey area here lies in the question "when is the lap the pitstop is completed on actually marked?". There are two options:
1. The first option is that the lap is deemed to be the lap displayed on the LFS lap counter when the car is in the pit box.
2. The second option is that the lap is deemed to be the lap displayed on the LFS lap counter when the car enters the pit area (i.e. where the pit speed limiter is required).
The OLFSL rules do not specifically state where this actually is, so I believe the outcome of this situation should be the same as the outcome of the Event 1 issue. Those racers who seemingly pitted on lap 29 should not be disqualified, but should have their points dropped to the same of the position behind them. Then, the rules of the OLFSL should be amended to state clearly where the lap number is counted for the pit stop.
We hope you understand our decision, it is final and has been made to make the league fair and fun for everyone. The rule will be clearly defined before the start of the next event (as per the above text). These changes will be made over the course of the next day and will also be communicated to the rest of the League membership by way of a news item on the site.

Hi Tim,
on behalf of the Hellenic Racing Team i need to thank each and everyone of you at the OLFSL for considering our appeal and reversing the disqualification. This proves that the OLFSL is all about fair play and common sense, and that fills us with great pleasure.
We found ourselves loosing the team championship by default this year, because of a team change in the middle of the season. Loosing a very good 2nd or 3rd place in the indivual standings by disqualification would have been a huge disappointment for us.
We're looking forward to the final race and moreover, the next season of course!
